Our Mission and Vision
HyeConnect was founded by Alexis Ohanian, Eric Esrailian, Serj Tankian, and Yervant Zorian — world-renowned Armenians who shared one vision:
To be a pan-Armenian digital platform that will connect Armenians around the world to create communities of interests and symposia based on any variety of issues- the Armenian nation online.
Our mission is to connect Armenians worldwide in a secure, inclusive space that empowers them to share knowledge, build communities and projects, and create meaningful impact in Armenia and across the diaspora.

The Digital Diaspora Theory & HyeConnect: the idea behind creation
By Roza ChibukhchyanAs the modern world moves towards globalization and digitalization it is hard to imagine a specter of it that can be left behind. From science to economics and arts, every field of activity is now focused on communication, sharing ideas, and networking. This is often accomplished by the mediums that the World Wide Web has provided us with. No working and thriving environment can operate without this digital communication that we have so quickly become accustomed to. In many of these environments and communities the emphasis is strictly on teamwork and collaboration. On an individual and corporate level, this instantaneous manner of communication has proven to be the most effective. To imitate this model of efficiency for a national benefit it is crucial to have a powerful communication and collaboration system.

Armenian Diaspora in the Digital Era: HyeConnect as a Diaspora Portal
By Roza ChibukhchyanAs we continue discussing the concept of a digital diaspora it is important to remember the physical diaspora behind it. A digital diaspora does not occur as an end in itself but rather as a means to an end, a real need, or a necessity that solves an ever-standing problem. And in the case of the Armenian diaspora as well this necessity presents itself in the form of a solution to a certain problem. As we have discussed before on our blog, Armenian diasporas have been outstandingly functional within themselves since the dawn of time, however, what has brought us to this disconnectedness is the lack of communication between Armenian diasporas in different countries and, of course, the homeland.
